Wind tunnel tests were carried out for the Stadio di Firenze renovation, commissioned by ARUP that was appointed for the architectural and structural design. Quoting ARUP’s vision, the project was specifically designed to minimize the visual impact on the Florence skyline and celebrate the elegance and horizontality of Pier Luigi Nervi’s original design. The new slender roof, integrated with historic existing structure, required a dedicated wind structural and comfort assessment by means of a large-scale wind tunnel model.
