This figure shows the aeroelastic model AE2 developed inside the EU project CS2-U-HARWARD by POLIMI, leading the project, and other partners such as IBK and University of Bristol. The aeroelastically scaled model representative of a future high aspect ratio wing medium range transport aircraft implemented an innovative load alleviation device named folding wing tip, able to release the external part of the wing when a high intensity gust is encountered. A photogrammetric optical system based on 6 cameras allowed to track the motion of the different components of the wing.
